Born in Port au Prince, Haiti, Joane Buteau Dumont is an up and coming artist who mainly focuses on Acrylic and Mix Media painting. Art, for her, is a way to cultivate a heightened sense of empathy and understanding of life. She attempts to make a picture of something that does not exist; lots of emotions and spiritual connection to the vision.
"The show would be about the way that I fit into this world. All the possible emotions that I possess are put into these paintings. The love, anger, vanity, beauty, nostalgia, and companionships that come with this beautiful life. The exhibit will be an expression of these feelings described. I invite others to join me in this journey."
Buteau Dumont is based in the Boston Area. Her education took place in Ithaca, New York for Hotel Administration, the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, and in Paris as a catering chef. Buteau Dumont is also an alumna of MassArt, School of Continuing Education, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Buteau Dumont has exhibited at The Litchfield Jazz Festival in Goshen, Connecticut, and at Karibe and Kinam Hotel in Port au Prince, Haiti.
