Hopscotch
Hopscotch is an exhibition of paintings, mixed media works, and poetic narratives intertwined. Featuring Visual Artists Marsha Nouritza Odabashian and Jennifer Jean Okumura and Poets Nancy Agabian and Celeste Nazeli Snowber
Hopscotch, layered with meaning, is imbued with physicality, psychology, entertainment, and challenge. The game's extensive history begins with hopscotch imagery painted on grey ware in Ancient India and journeys to the Roman empire as endurance training for soldiers. This exhibition plays hopscotch on "our" culture by mimicking the movement or sense of passing through geographical areas or fields of endeavor. Celeste, Nancy, Marsha, and Jennifer collaborate to play the line between individual creativity and welcomed hybridity.
The Piano Craft Gallery, Inc. is located in a historic Boston landmark that works to eliminate common barriers to accessing the arts such as race, education level, and class by guiding our operation through an anti-racist and inclusive lens.
